 GUIDELINES — CURRENTLY/FORMERLY INCARCERATED*

  • The applicant must have been approved for and enrolled in one of our Legal or Advocacy programs during their incarceration (i.e., our Commissary Support Fund, Letter Writing Program, or Cannabis Justice Initiative)
  • The applicant must be currently incarcerated OR recently released from prison (within the past year) for cannabis.
  • If the application is successful, the grant will be awarded to the incarcerated individual after they are released from prison.

GUIDELINES — CHILDREN/DEPENDENTS

  • Children and dependents 22 years old or under of currently or formerly incarcerated Legal or Advocacy constituents may be eligible for a LPP reentry grant.
  • In order for their application to be considered, the child/dependent applying for the grant must have a parent or guardian whose case meets the criteria listed above.
  • If the application is successful, the grant money is awarded directly to the child/dependent or, if the child/dependent is under the age of majority, their primary caretaker.

GUIDELINES — WAITLIST

  • Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to be put on a waitlist, in the below priority order:
  1. Family of Legal/Advocacy incarcerated constituents who are 60 years old or over
  2. Children of Legal/Advocacy incarcerated constituents between 23-59 years old who are caring for minor dependents
  3. Children of Legal/Advocacy incarcerated constituents between 23-59 years old who do not have minor dependents
  • Applications for the waitlist can be submitted any time and will be processed in the order they are received.
  • The waitlist will then become active in December each year, where any additional funds at the end of the year will be disbursed to approved applicants in the order of the categories above.
  • Being approved for the waitlist does NOT guarantee that a grant will be awarded. In the event that not enough funds are available at the end of the year, you are welcome to reapply for the following year’s waitlist.
